外国语学院源于1978年创办的绵阳师范高等专科学校外语系，现有英语和德语两个专业。英语专业于1998年开始本科招生，德语专业于2009年开始本科招生。

学院现有教职工73人，其中，教授2人，副教授23人；博士8人；另聘有基础教育高级职称兼职教师10余人。

学院拥有绵阳市社科联重点研究基地“中国周边国家研究中心”，省级课程思政示范课程1门，校级课程思政示范课程10门，校级一流课程6门。教师5年来公开发表学术论文200余篇；出版学术专著、教材10余部；多次获省市级社会科学成果奖、教学成果奖。

学院学生学风优良，在学校、四川省和国家级教学技能大赛和专业竞赛中屡获奖项。

TheSchool of Foreign Languages (SOFL)

The SOFL has a history that dates back to 1978 when the Department of Foreign Languages was founded in Mianyang Teachers’ College. The SOFL presently offers two bachelor's degree programs, one in English and the other in German. The SOFL has been offering instructions for BA degree in English since 1998, and for BA degree in German since 2009.

There are three departments – the department of English, of College English and of German. The SOFL has a faculty consisting of 73 members, of whom there are 2 professors, 23 associate professors, and 8 doctors. There are about 10 part-time teachers with senior professional titles of basic education.

In recent years, the SOFL has made remarkable achievements in teaching reforms and scientific researches. The Center for Research on Countries around China has been approved as a key research base by Mianyang Federation of Social Science Associations. A course is one of the provincial model courses of ideological and political teaching.Sixcourses are college-level first-class courses. Ten courses are college-level model courses of ideological and political teaching. Over the last five years, 10 monographs and textbooks, and more than 200 academic papers have been published, some of which have been awarded prizes at either provincial or municipal level.

With a pleasant learning environment, the SOFL students have had great skills and won numerous awards in various skills contests organized by the college, provincial and national authorities.
